GERSOL, through its subsidiary, Sables Collette Ltd., operates three sand mining and quarrying and recycling sites.

Sables Collette is the most important supplier of sand on the South Shore of Montréal, for the construction and civil engineering industries, since 30 years.

Sables Collette afforested, or prepared for agriculture, the totality of its land, which is not exploited, in order to ensure its sustainable use.

The main commercialized products are:

 Class A Sand

  • Following its extraction, the coarse sand is sorted using a scalping process, removing silt, clay and other impurities, until it reaches the MG112 standard, established by the Ministère des Transports du Québec.
  • The quality of this product is rigorously measured, with the collaboration of a laboratory specialized in the control of construction materials.
  • This sand demonstrates a good level of permeability and is also frostproof.
  • This sand can be used anywhere where a stable, non-swelling and frostproof backfill is required (e.g., road and parking infrastructures, pipe coating, etc.)

 Class B+ Sand

  • This sand is a product developed by Sables Collette for its use in building under-foundation.
  • This sand does not contain any organic matter, pyrite or other substance, which may cause swelling or ground subsidence.
  • This sand can be compacted up to 98% without any addition of water and without the deployment of a high amount of energy.

In addition to these two products, Sables Collette commercializes raw backfill B sand, as well as sand for the installation of swimming pools.

Besides its sand pits, GERSOL operates an asphalt and concrete recycling site. We can receive all types of asphalt and concrete, along with a proof of non-contamination.

The crushed concrete and asphalt are available in various grain size (20-0mm, 56-0mm, etc.) and in different types of MR, depending on the Bureau de normalisation du Québec classification.
